NFP Helps Develop Local Business
The number of domestic companies involved in the construction of the Nakhodka Mineral Fertilizer Plant has increased by a third in just four months. More than 160 contractors are now involved in the project. Even before the plant launches production, it provides stable employment for 6,000 people.
Most contractors are from the Far East, 80% of which are companies from Nakhodka and other cities of Primorye. These are construction contractors, suppliers of equipment, construction materials and special machinery, companies providing communication services, medical and cleaning services, repair and maintenance of equipment, installation of utilities and other types of work.
“We have reached the active stage of ground operations. We are pouring concrete plant foundations at 30 construction sites, and six pieces of equipment are already installed. This progress became possible as a result of forces consolidation gathered by the strategic giant, which is one of the top three largest investment projects in the Far East. And more than RUB 227 bln of investment will flow into Primorye’s economy by 2028 with the construction of NFP project. One-fifth is already invested,” said Viktor Grebenyukov, Executive Director of NFP.
Collaboration with local companies is an important contribution to accelerating economic growth and an opportunity to strengthen the macroeconomy of Nakhodka. NFP project is a next step for Russia in its transition from a commodity-based economy to the export of high-tech industrial goods. The Plant will synthesize 1.8 million tons of methanol per year from natural gas, increasing non-resource non-energy exports of Primorye by 1.5 times.
