Best Boxers of Primorsky Krai Determined in Nakhodka
The traditional spring boxing tournament, “Hope of the Ring,” took place in Nakhodka under the auspices of the Nahodka Mineral Fertilizer Plant (NFP). Over 70 athletes representing 8 federations from across Primorsky Krai participated in the competition.
Youth support is a priority of NFP’s social policy. Creating comfortable conditions for sports activities is an important criterion for ensuring that active residents of Nakhodka continue stay and work in their hometown. That is why NFP traditionally provides assistance in organizing competitions, offers prizes to the winners, and provides targeted support to talented athletes.
“The ‘Hope of the Ring’ tournament serves as a springboard for young boxers. Athletes who have grown up participating in these competitions subsequently achieve excellent results in international matches. For example, one of today’s judges, Danil Andrievsky, is a winner of Russian-Belarusian boxing competitions,” said Andrey Karpov, Chairman of the Nakhodka Boxing Federation “Ring-2017.”
Young athletes attended the tournament, and it was opened by 9-year-old Arslan Yusupov from Livadiya. He proved to be stronger and better prepared than his opponent.
“It’s challenging to be the first one to step into the ring; you have to quickly switch to fighting mode. But my coach gave me a lot of advice, and I used it to my advantage and won. The fight itself wasn’t too difficult for me. It seemed like my opponent was a bit drowsy. He attacked a lot but often missed, as if he didn’t want to win. But at the end of the first round, he got what was coming to him,” the young athlete shared.
In total, the Livadiya team won 8 gold medals and 9 silver medals at the competition. The second place in the team standings went to the Sports Complex “Spartak” (Nakhodka) with 7 gold, 4 silver, and 4 bronze medals. Boxers from Uglegorsk took the third place on the pedestal with 6 medals of various merits.
