NFP obtains a Gas Pipeline Commissioning Permit

The Nakhodka Mineral Fertilizer Plant (NFP) has obtained the commissioning permit for the gas pipeline, connecting the gas distribution station in Vrangel to the utilities of the Plant.

The 600mm underground pipeline now stretches over 3.5 km of uneven landscape filled with elevation changes, passing through hillsides and undulating terrain. The gas transit will go from Sakhalin through Bolshoy Kamen. The supply of the main raw material to be used in production will be carried under the 20-year Contract signed with Gazprom. NFP will utilize more than 3 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

“In summer we are planning to start commissioning operations using a gas turbine generator. With the current pace of work, we are quite confident that we will be able to finish construction of the Plant this fall, thus, reaching our primary goal,” says Viktor Grebenyukov, the Executive Director of NFP.

The progress on the transit plant utilities is equally significant. The construction is over, the installation of auxiliary equipment is almost completed, and the project team is now preparing for commissioning activities.

NFP is now approaching production commissioning. This year’s construction season will see the completion of all key facilities, as well as their commissioning. Besides the gas pipeline, the site of the future industrial giant already has its main energy center, i.e., the 220 kV Main Substation. Construction completion and commissioning of NFP facilities will be done in stages. The next steps are the Marine Terminal, Water Treatment Facilities, Air Separation Unit and Desalination Station. The plant will reach its design capacity in 2027.
